Rubus idaeus Raspberry Autumn Bliss 2 Litre Pot

A truely exceptional variety! Without a doubt, one of hte best and most reliable autumn fruiting varieties. Bliss is a heavy cropper from late August through until the first frosts with the highest yield coming in September. The attractive berries are large with a firm texture, and the flavour is excellent. The fruit is mid-dark red in colour and has good keeping qualities. The short, erect, spiny cane are sturdy and need only minimal support. Bliss has good disease resistance to Root Rot. Primocane variety – produces fruit on the first years growth. An excellent British bred variety – very highly recommended. Cropping season; late August-mid-October. Self fertile.

Raspberries grow best in free draining soils, if drainage is poor, grow on a raised bed. It is essential that they are planted in ground that has NEVER grown rapsberries or any plant of the genus Rubus before. Prepare ground before planting by digging over and mixing organic manure or compost into the soil. Plant canes as soon as possible after purchase, provided weather conditions are suitable. Soak canes for 2 hours in water and plant to the depth to the depth of the soil mark on the stem, tread firmly in and water. Please be aware that the canes may not break bud up the stem but fresh shoots will emerge from the base. We recommend the use of “Root Grow” (mycorrhizae) to aid esablishment.

Pruning is not required at planting time but in subsequent years, remove the canes which have fruited and train in the new canes. Support the canes on posts and wire. Mulch yearly with wel rotted compost or manure to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Water in dry periods. Apply a growmore type feriliser in the spring.
