Tomato (Cherry) Gardener’s Delight Seeds – Mr Fothergills

Masses of sweet and tangy, large ‘cherry’ fruits. Indeterminate (needs support), outdoors or greenhouse. Excellent source of vitamin C and antioxidants. Indeterminate.

A Best Buy variety as recommended by the Gardening Press and Consumer Groups.

Tomato
Technically a fruit, but also Britain’s favourite summer vegetable!  No surprise because nothing you buy beats the flavour of home-grown tomatoes.

Recommended by Terry Walton (Radio 2 gardening expert) in BBC Gardeners World Magazine (January 2015 edition):
“Live up to expectations. The seed germinate well and grow sturdy plants under most conditions. Produces heavy crops on long trusses.”
Also recommended by Alan Titchmarsh, Rachel de Thame and Sally Nex

Sow & Grow:

Sow indoors on a warm kitchen windowsill is all you need for starting these seeds. Sow thinly, 0.5cm (¼”) deep, in a pot of compost. Water well and place in a warm position. A temperature of 15-20°C (60-68°F) is ideal. Keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 7-14 days. Transplant to individual pots when 10-15cm (4-6″) tall. Grow on in cooler, but not cold conditions. Plant out april to may, to large pots, growing bags or greenhouse border. Provide support, pinch out side shoots regularly and pinch out growing tip after 5/6 trusses have set.

For out door crop delay indoor sowing until march or April. Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions (avoid frosts), before planting out 45cm apart, when frosts are over. Harvest August onward.
