Rubus hybrid Loganberry 3 Litre Pot
A thornless raspberry/blackberry hybrid. Very high yields of enormous, long, cone-shaped berries ripening from mid-July. Loganberries have excellent aromatic flavour, that are juicier but sharper than raspberries. The fruit is ideal for all purposes and is best cropped when they turn deep red in colour. Bushy vigorous growth and the branches need permanent support so is ideal for training against a wall or fence.
Eventual height; 1.8m (6ft). Eventual spread 5ft. Cropping season mid July/August. Self fertile.
To encourage vigorous new growth and help establishment cut all stems back to 30cm (1ft) above ground at planting time. To prune therefore each winter just cut out the dead canes that fruited previous Summer and train in the new, tying them onto the supprt wires from where they will produce their fruiting spurs the following Summer. Mulch yearly with rotted compost or manure to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Water in dry periods. Apply a growmore type fertiliser in the spring.
